Almost every household is infested with pests to a certain extent. While there can be different kinds of pest in a house, a pest that usually goes unnoticed is Varied Carpet Beetle. Feeding on organic materials, the beetle can cause much damage. The varied variety of carpet beetle is also referred to by its scientific name of Anthrenus verbasci. Despite infesting households, these pests usually go unnoticed. Causing steady damage gradually, carpet beetles can cause much ruin if they go unchecked.
To get rid of Varied Carpet Beetle, it helps to first somewhat understand the pest. These beetles can be found infesting almost every kind of organic material – such as, furniture, carpets, drapery, silk, seeds, wool, corn, insect meal, hair of pets, human hair, clothes and grain. Such beetles have also been found in synthetic carpets as well, owing to the fact that even synthetic carpets have some amount of organic material in their composition.
Varied Carpet Beetle is a pest that can commonly be found in closets, on the under-side of furniture, under rugs and carpets. As the beetle usually does not limit itself to any particular area in the house and roams round freely, it is necessary to treat the entire home when looking towards pest control. At the time of treating a home to pest controlling measures, the entire home ought to be gone over and all the suspected areas be taken into attention. While carpet beetles are commonly confused with moths, there is some amount of difference between the two. While in the case of moth infestation adult moths can be seen flying around the infested area, there is no such flying around of carpet beetles. On the other hand, moths usually tend to remain in one place whereas carpet beetles roam around
Among the various pests that can infest households, Varied Carpet Beetle is perhaps one of the trickiest pets to control. As they do not usually have large populations as such, these beetles are noticed more on account of the damage they cause than due to their numbers. Treatment for these pests has to be repeated a number of times after the initial treatment. While adult beetles and larva are killed in a treatment, pupa and eggs remain safe in their encasings. Hence, the treatment has to be repeated many times to secure the household from carpet beetle infestation.
